Damon Salvatore: zodiac sign and birth chart

Damon Salvatore has no canon birthday. The series never gives a date, so his chart is read from his personality. He's a Scorpio: Sun, rising and Mercury, the vampire with a smirk, a glass of bourbon and a knack for saying the exact thing that hurts most. An Aries Moon throws the first punch, and a Sagittarius Venus can't stand being pinned down.

NEBO's take

We ran Damon through the same model that matches people to characters in the app, and looked at which chart gets him most often. It reads him as water first: intense, sharp-tongued and hiding a soft spot under a very good smirk.

NEBO's take

Scorpio SunRead from his personality
  • Sun CanonNot in canonNEBO's takeScorpio

Scorpio holds a grudge and a secret with equal skill. Damon turns up in town with a long-term plan and a very good poker face.

  • Moon CanonNot in canonNEBO's takeAries

Aries Moon reacts first, thinks later. Damon snaps before he's finished feeling the thing he is snapping about.

  • Rising CanonNo birth timeNEBO's takeScorpio

No birth time in canon. First impression: leather jacket, smirk, a bourbon in hand, charming and dangerous in the same sentence.

  • Mercury CanonNot in canonNEBO's takeScorpio

Scorpio Mercury knows where it hurts. Stefan's guilt, Alaric's drinking, Caroline's insecurity: he says the true thing nobody wanted said.

  • Venus CanonNot in canonNEBO's takeSagittarius

Sagittarius Venus wants freedom, even in love. Damon chases a love for over a century and runs from anything that tries to pin him down.

  • Mars CanonNot in canonNEBO's takeLibra

Libra Mars fights with style. He'd rather win with a drink and a conversation, and keeps the violence as the second option.

What canon does give: a man who treats feelings like a joke until they get too loud. Scorpio answers that with someone who feels everything at full depth and shows none of it until it's too late.

    Season 1

  • MindMercury in Scorpio

    Knows exactly where it hurts

He needles Stefan about the past, Alaric about the bottle and Elena about her choices. It's cruel because it's usually right.

    Season 2

  • LoveVenus in Sagittarius

    A century-long chase

His big plan in Season 1 is to open the tomb under the church and bring back the woman he has loved for over a century.

    Season 1

  • In a fightMars in Libra

    Charm first, violence second

He pours bourbon from the crystal decanter in the Salvatore library and talks to you like a host. Everyone in the room knows how this could end.

    Season 1

  • CoreScorpio Sun

    Falls hard, finally says it

After decades chasing someone who picked his brother, Damon falls for Elena and for the first time says it out loud. Scorpio doesn't play halfway, even when it loses.
